What it is

Hair transplantation moves hair follicles from the back of the head to thinning areas. Korean hospitals price it by the number of hairs (모, mo) moved; note that clinics abroad usually count grafts, and one graft carries one to three hairs, often about two.

What the price includes

The figure is the hospital’s fee for the stated number of hairs. Medication, scalp treatments and follow-up visits are often extra.

Health insurance

Hair transplants for hair loss are cosmetic and non-covered.

Questions

How do I compare a Korean quote with a quote in grafts?

Ask the clinic how many grafts and how many hairs the quote covers. Dividing the number of hairs by about two gives a rough graft count, but the real ratio depends on your hair.

Why is the per-hair price so high?

Only a few hospitals report a per-hair price, usually for small touch-ups, so that row is less typical than the package rows by number of hairs.
