What it is
NIPT (non-invasive prenatal testing) is a blood test taken from the mother, usually from about 10 weeks of pregnancy, that screens the baby’s DNA for conditions such as Down syndrome. It is a screening test: a high-risk result needs confirming with another test.
What the price includes
The price is for one test. Brands and the number of conditions screened differ, which explains much of the range.
Health insurance
NIPT is not covered by National Health Insurance.

Questions
Can I find out the baby’s sex in Korea?
Yes. Korean law used to ban doctors from telling parents the baby’s sex before 32 weeks of pregnancy, but the Constitutional Court struck that ban down in February 2024. Ask the clinic whether its NIPT report includes it.
